Detroit was the first city to use radio-equipped emergency vehicles in 1921. Motorola’s Martin Cooper is credited with the invention of the first handheld cellular telephone, which appeared in 1973. And in October of 2001, Apple announced their new “iPod.” The rest is, well, history.

This is a busy week at Popular Community Bank. Here are a few of the events on our calendar this week.
On Wednesday, Aug. 22, our Commerce (CA) branch is hosting a retirement planning seminar. If you have questions about how much money it will take for you to stop working someday, and how to get there, this is a great free event for you!
Also on Wednesday, we are proud to be a sponsor of the Norwegian American Hospital’s Pediatric Care-A-Van spending some time at Youth Service Project in Chicago. The care-a-van will be offering free services including required immunizations, school physicals, vision and hearing screenings and asthma assessments. This is a great opportunity to get ready for the new school year. The event is from 9 AM to 2 PM, and is open to children ages newborn to 21.
On Friday, Aug. 24, we’re hosting two great, free events for seniors in New York. Starting at 10 AM our branch on Dyckman St. will be answering basic banking questions for seniors. From 4-5 PM at the same branch, there will be a seminar discussing direct deposit for seniors. Both of these events request an RSVP, so please click on the links for more information.
This weekend (Friday afternoon and Saturday), we’ll have representatives at the Festival Azteca in Maywood (IL) answering all of your banking questions. We will have representatives at the festival from 4-8 PM on Friday and from noon to 6 PM on Saturday. We hope to see you there!
