CRA Week: Focus on Identity Theft

Yesterday our focus was on building, maintaining and repairing credit. One of the great fears most people have when considering their credit is dealing with identity theft.

Thieves are becoming more creative all the time, but there are some great ways to safeguard your credit and personal information. Here are a few ideas:

In September, David Peters (Sr. Vice President, Popular Insurance USA) suggested a few ways to outsmart ID thieves on PopularTips.com.

The FDIC has some great resources available for consumer concerned about their identity being stolen.

Just last week, U.S.  News and World Report offered some ways to safeguard your financial accounts from hackers.

The Federal Trade Commission has resources available on their website as well.

The FTC also has a microsite with additional resources if your identity is stolen or is at risk.
