Popular Community Bank Joins Volunteers of America for Operation Backpack 2015

Thousands of children live with their families in the New York City homeless shelter system and many of them return to school without the supplies they need. From day one, they look and feel different from their classmates. In fact, one of the most devastating consequences of homelessness is the impact it has on a child’s education. Operation Backpack helps close this gap.

We have teamed up with Volunteers of America- Greater New York to collect 20,000 backpacks for every child living in a shelter, but we need your help. Grade-specific supply lists will be available at your local PCB and online at OperationBackpack-NYC.org. You can also print a Kid-Friendly Shopping List here: Backpack Shopping List.VOA-Children-Operation-Backpack
